The True Cost

About the True Cost

On May 29, a documentary movie called the True Cost will be released and we all need to watch it.

What’s it about?

It’s about many statements, many problems, and many solutions we need to find.

It’s about opening our eyes to bigger problems than ours, because it’s too easy to carry on without trying to figure it out.

“In the US, the total production homemade is around 3%, the rest, is produced is the cheapest places around the world, which represents 97%”

The materials are polluted, everywhere in the world the seeds are genetically modified just like food, to be able to produce faster and gain as much money as possible. There are even companies, specialized in selling genetically modified seeds, they are presenting in the movie one particular in India.

The manner of buying clothes is no longer natural, people buys too much, they don t every wear what they buy sometimes, and throw away theses cheap clothes, that already brought many pollution, but will again pollute for the next 200 years because theses materials aren’t biodegradable.

As they try to explain, there are two types of products, the products you use, and the one you use up. We’ve been basically taught nowadays to use our things as use up products. That is how I guess the endless circle began.

There is no sense fashion should continue to carry on like that, we can’t deny mass market is killing the planet and lives everyday, for us to buy cheap clothes.

We need to realize that we are, the customers and that is our responsibility to think about what is all about, and how is that possible to buy a skirt $8,50? That is obvious that theses prices is the proof that someone has been paid nothing for their work, that theses persons must be living in awful conditions of health and work. This is important to understand what is really happening.

Today, more and more designers are partnering with villages in poor countries, taking care of them, giving them the opportunities to have a safe work, reasonable pay, and an education for their children. A lot of people have values, we are just not being taught what is happening, behind this amazing fashion, social medias, sparkles, money and glamour.

Then we know everything in the fashion industry is about money and at what cost? This movie explains it so well, with great interviews and showing people trying to change the world. The cost about people life in danger everyday, it should be about humans right and health, not about money and sparkles.
